Year 4

Welcome

In Year 4 at Bank End Primary Academy, we aim to provide children with a broad and balanced curriculum which seeks to promote a love of learning for all. Our curriculum design will provide children with a breadth of experiences and immerse them in engaging and exciting learning opportunities. We aim for our children to leave Lower Key Stage Two feeling confident and enthusiastic with all the knowledge and skills they will need to be successful in Upper Key Stage 2. Our curriculum delivery draws on the key Rosenshine Principles of Instruction to ensure teaching is strong and the incorporation of daily, weekly and monthly retrieval practices will ensure children are consistently recalling prior knowledge, embedding this into long-term memory to ensure their successes.

At Bank End, we also believe in fostering well-rounded individuals who feel happy and safe in our school. We draw on our Behaviour expectations; Show respect, Handle emotions appropriately, Communicate in a friendly way, Do your best, Be in the right place at the right time, Cooperate with others and Behave in a safe way.

Supporting your child to read

At Bank End we ask that every child reads at home for a minimum of 10 minute everyday and brings their reading book back into school daily. This serve as the core of children's home learning as reading is the key to success in all areas of the curriculum.
