The curriculum shows progression across the year to support children to achieve their potential, becoming responsible and reflective learners. Maths is taught systematically following the White Rose Maths scheme, which enables children to become fluent in reasoning and solving problems.
Children are introduced to a variety of high-quality texts through Guided Reading and English lessons. Adults read to them frequently and they have opportunities to read to an adult throughout the day. This system develops fluent, confident readers and promotes a love of reading in all children.
During Year 3, children will have the opportunity to:
-
create a cave painting and a picture of a Stone Age dwelling using natural materials.
-
sing a Spanish song
-
make and taste healthy soup
-
perform in an online “virtual” Christmas concert
-
make a photo frame for a present
-
take part in an Olympic games
-
create a portfolio of writing across various genres
-
put on a shadow puppet show
