Our approach to Year 2 intends to develop character and awareness as a citizen of our local and wider community embodying British Values. We deliver an education with character through a well-rounded curriculum.
Children are provided with the opportunity to read to an adult in school. Adults also read stories to the children each day to promote a love for reading and reading for pleasure. High quality literacy lessons are taught daily using a variety of quality texts which are often linked to our class topics. Reading is also heavily embedded into our literacy curriculum by following the teaching sequence of gather, skills, apply.
Daily maths lessons are completed which provide all our children with the opportunity to explore and discuss mathematical concepts. Concrete resources are always available to support our pupils' understanding.
Our carefully selected topics follow the interests of the children and aim to motivate and inspire them.
