Classifying Animals

Dawn Bullen 0 161

Our Science topic is 'All Living Things' and as part of that, the children are learning about why we classify animals.  We found out about the work of Carl Linnaeus last week and this week the children learnt how to classify animals using a key.

Growing Up

Puberty is an important part of a child's development.  As a development of Year 6's unit of work we will be discussing that puberty is about preparing the body for reproduction.  Before we start this unit of learning all Y6 parents will be invited to an SRE meeting on Monday 4th June at 2.30 in the Year 6 classroom, where any questions that parents may have will be addressed before the unit of work begins with the children.

Christmas has certainly arrived at Worsbrough Bank End Primary School, where Santa was guest of honour for a day of festive fun on Friday 15th December.

To get the (snow)ball rolling, everyone in school was invited to wear a Christmas jumper, with money raised being split between the school and charity.

Santa then dropped in to hold a special grotto, handing out smiles and presents, with pupils being taken to see him by the school elf. And no festive celebrations would be complete without the traditonal Christmas dinner, which was held in the school dining hall.

Helping everyone get in the Christmas spirit in the lead up to the 15th, the school’s Early Years/Year 1 pupils staged their version of the nativity on 13th December, with a Christmas Performance from Years 2 to 6 on 14th December, featuring song and dance.

Commented Worsbrough Bank End Primary School’s Executive Headteacher Nic Thorpe:

“The children have worked really hard on all of the Christmas activities and we were particularly lucky that Santa chose to drop in and join our celebrations!”
