World War 2 experience at Bank End

There were a number of exciting activities to experience including the ARP duties of putting out a fire, disposing of a firebomb and carrying and throwing a sandbag to douse the flames from a firebomb. Later, the children were taught how to prioritise who would get medical treatment, how to lift a stretcher and how to put bandages on an injured person. The day was made even better with an extensive array of artefacts that the visitor provided - many were authentic while others were reproduced items. the children spent many minutes trying to identify which were genuine then decided what the 'mystery items' were used for.

A thoroughly exciting day all-round and made better by the weather!
