Life Cycles and Living Things Module in Science
Year 5 have been following the Life Cycles and Living Things module in their Science this half term. Yesterday's lesson was learning and comparing the life cycles of amphibians and insects: dragonflies, butterflies, frogs and newts. The children discovered that both newts and frogs start life as tadpoles, once hatched from eggs and their eggs need to be fertilised first in order to hatch. Butterflies eggs are laid on leaves, like dragonflies although dragonfly larvae live underwater for the first 2 to 4 years. A thoroughly interesting lesson!
