Afternoon with Local Community Police

Dawn Bullen 0 550

This week Year Three and Four had an amazing afternoon with the local community police officers. They let us try on their uniforms and showed us all around the riot van. We learned lots about  the different kinds of jobs that the police do to keep us safe.  There really is no way you can get out of the back of the van! I tried!

Our curriculum afternoon

Some photographs from our curriculum afternoon, where the children (Y4) were introduced to the new topic 'World Kitchen'. They really enjoyed learning about where different fruits were grown in the world and how it was transported to England for us to enjoy. Later in the afternoon the children made fruit salad from a variety of fruit, grown in different parts of the world. At the end they really enjoyed tasting what they had created.

Christmas has certainly arrived at Worsbrough Bank End Primary School, where Santa was guest of honour for a day of festive fun on Friday 15th December.

To get the (snow)ball rolling, everyone in school was invited to wear a Christmas jumper, with money raised being split between the school and charity.

Santa then dropped in to hold a special grotto, handing out smiles and presents, with pupils being taken to see him by the school elf. And no festive celebrations would be complete without the traditonal Christmas dinner, which was held in the school dining hall.

Helping everyone get in the Christmas spirit in the lead up to the 15th, the school’s Early Years/Year 1 pupils staged their version of the nativity on 13th December, with a Christmas Performance from Years 2 to 6 on 14th December, featuring song and dance.

Commented Worsbrough Bank End Primary School’s Executive Headteacher Nic Thorpe:

“The children have worked really hard on all of the Christmas activities and we were particularly lucky that Santa chose to drop in and join our celebrations!”

...we have had a fantastic time learning about the difference pitch that is produced by different instruments. It was very difficult for all of us to get sounds out of some of them but we did our best. We also discussed the sounds waves that would be produced by them.
