Wonder Woman

Dawn Bullen 0 348

During our hook day into the new topic 'Wonder Women' we had to piece together a range of clues linked to 6 famous women of history. We looked at Florence Nightingale, Queen Elizabeth 1, Queen Victoria, Mary Seacole, Emily Davison and Beatrix Potter. Once we have pieced together the clues about each one we worked on writing questions we would like to know and find out about each of them.

Christmas has certainly arrived at Worsbrough Bank End Primary School, where Santa was guest of honour for a day of festive fun on Friday 15th December.

To get the (snow)ball rolling, everyone in school was invited to wear a Christmas jumper, with money raised being split between the school and charity.

Santa then dropped in to hold a special grotto, handing out smiles and presents, with pupils being taken to see him by the school elf. And no festive celebrations would be complete without the traditonal Christmas dinner, which was held in the school dining hall.

Helping everyone get in the Christmas spirit in the lead up to the 15th, the school’s Early Years/Year 1 pupils staged their version of the nativity on 13th December, with a Christmas Performance from Years 2 to 6 on 14th December, featuring song and dance.

Commented Worsbrough Bank End Primary School’s Executive Headteacher Nic Thorpe:

“The children have worked really hard on all of the Christmas activities and we were particularly lucky that Santa chose to drop in and join our celebrations!”

Tudors, multiplication and story writing

Gary Child 0 538

We have been super busy working on our setting descriptions for our very own stories. We have been learning how to edit and improve our own writing by checking and correcting spellings, improving adjectival phrases and working on how we structure our sentences. We then looked at tense and completed a range of skills lessons based on past tense. We have been learning about Tudors during broader curriculum lessons based on A Midsummer Nights Dream. We have started to compare how we spend our leisure time with how Tudors spent theirs. Here we are creating tally charts of responses. We then presented the data using bar graphs. We have absolutely loved our art lessons this week. We have focused on the lines, shapes and detail of flowers and leaves before arranging these on our final art piece which we will be building up over the upcoming weeks.

Choose Kindness

This week was Anti-Bullying awareness week and as part of this we 'chose kindness'. In year 2 we went the extra mile to show how kind and considerate we are to others.
