Carnival Day

Dawn Bullen 0 137

Today in Early Years the children celebrated the end of an exciting year with a carnival themed celebration day. The children enjoyed a variety of activities including a special guest appearance and sing along with Moana herself, an exciting show full of laughter with magic Daz; who made them all balloon models to take home, candy floss, ice cones, ice lollies, face painting, mini football and many more activities throughout the day. We would like to thank all the staff in making an effort to dress up and make the day fun and enjoyable for all the children.

Transition to Y1 Classroom

The Reception children really enjoyed the transition morning into their new year 1 classroom yesterday. They were so grown up and stayed calm like a chameleon. They made a 'This is me' page full of facts about themselves and we made them into a book for their new teacher Miss Durham to read and learn all about her new Year 1 class.

Safeguarding Ourselves ...

This week, in between all ours in fun, exploration and practices we have talked about how we take care of ourselves. Children have learned and use the golden rules to help them at learning time, such as listening ears, walking together safely and sitting down to use scissors.

As the weather has been especially hot we have had to remind each other about sun cram and hats, as well as drinking plenty of water.

During provision we wash our hands after using the toilet and eating our snack. We use walking feet to walk around indoors and down the ramp and we know not to go outdoors if the door is closed.

We have really used our thinking caps to remember all the things we need to do daily, have a think about what your child can do at home to help keep themselves safe.

Carnival Fever!

Early years have thoroughly enjoyed their bang into carnival themed stories this week, linking lots of different areas of provision together, building floats to dance on creating costumes and dances and role playing our own parades!

It has been a pleasure to see children's imagination and creativity come alive. Just look at the pictures to see for yourselves! I am looking forward to next week to see how they take their learning even further with a new carnival themed story.

Welly Wednesday

The children are becoming more independent in using the forest area, accessing different activities to the indoors environment. This week a group of children used the area to act out their own role play ideas, being characters and designing their own storyline together.

The mud kitchen is always a big hit, where children can explore mud, in its different consistencies and use their imagination to cook and create with it. It really is amazing to watch what they come up with!

The outdoors of course is always a great place to explore wildlife, nature and be with friends. This week we looked at our gardens, found some mini-beasts and sifted the soil using our sieves.

Why not explore outdoors this weekend, see what you can find, make a mud pie, have fun!
