Outdoor Learning and play in the EYFS

Outdoor play is a statutory requirement of the EYFS, here at Bank End and Hunningley we have direct access to an outdoor play area which we utilise daily through planned purposeful play. Distinct areas of provision are provided outdoors and children learn through adult-led and child initiated activities.

We access the outdoor environment throughout the year therefore it is important that children are dressed appropriately and bring suitable clothing for all weathers e.g rain coat and wellington boots for wet weather and sunhats and sun cream for hot weather. Each child is provided with a peg to hang their personal belongings such as hats, gloves, scarves. You will need to provide a bag for your child to keep their belonging in. We do ask that children do not bring toys from home to school as we find these may get lost or broken which leads to upset.

We have weekly visits to our outdoor woodland area in which your child will require suitable clothing to access. We ask that you provide wellington boots and a waterproof suit that will be kept in school at all times. Outdoor activities include making dens, building houses for the 3 little pigs, making mud pies in our mud kitchen and potions.

The school is part of United Learning. United Learning comprises: UCST (Registered in England No: 2780748. Charity No. 1016538) and ULT (Registered in England No. 4439859. An Exempt Charity). Companies limited by guarantee. VAT number 834 8515 12.
