Fantastic Week for Y4

Dawn Bullen 0 6

This week Y4 have had a fantastic week. First of all on Wednesday afternoon we celebrated the achievements of England in the World Cup by having a sports afternoon. There were a variety of circuits to have a go at and Y4 were in charge of taking the scores and supporting the younger members of school.

On Thursday, as part of safeguarding week, the children discuss online dangers and what they needed to look out for. They looked at the profile of 3 internet uses and had a go at deciding if from the information they shared they knew their age and other personal information. From this, they learnt that the internet is not a safe place to talk to others that they do not know and if they were worried about something they should talk to an adult that they trust.

Times Tables

This week we have been getting physical , as well as vocal whilst learning our times tables. The children really enjoyed chanting the times tables whilst following the dance routine alongside. It showed what 'seven times table hero's' they could be.

Crime and Punishment - Wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle

Dawn Bullen 0 87

On Thursday we linked our 'Crime and Punishment' topic with the wedding of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle'. The crime that had been committed, was that the wedding cake had been stolen from the Palace and someone from Y4 was the suspect! As a class we discussed what would happen when the case went to court and the role of everyone who would be attending. The children really enjoyed been called as witnesses and being part of the jury. In groups they discussed the reasons why the suspect would be guilty and the reasons against this. The decision was very difficult to make , therefore next week there will be a 'retrial' .

Year 3 and Y4 Trip to Emergency Museum

Dawn Bullen 0 79

This week Y4 had a fantastic day at 'The National Emergency Museum', where they learnt all about crime and punishment through the centuries. They also had the opportunity to try on a variety of outfits and compare them to what the police where today. We also looked at the equipment that is used today compared to 100 years ago and how technology has changed the way the police force is run.  In Maths we have be multiplying and dividing money and some of us also challenged ourselves to using these skills in different ways in everyday life situations.

Afternoon with Local Community Police

Dawn Bullen 0 134

This week Year Three and Four had an amazing afternoon with the local community police officers. They let us try on their uniforms and showed us all around the riot van. We learned lots about  the different kinds of jobs that the police do to keep us safe.  There really is no way you can get out of the back of the van! I tried!
