The Gruffalo

This week we have focused on the story of the Gruffalo. On Monday we made character masks using tissue paper, pencils and felts. On Tuesday we worked in small teams to learn and act out the story. We then focused on creating story maps of the story to help us know it off by heart.

A Royal Celebration

This week ended with an amazing celebration of the upcoming royal wedding. We started the day learning about the royal family - who they are, what they are called and how they are related. We complete the Royal family tree. Then we moved onto writing our own royal wedding invitations. During the afternoon we had a carousel of Royal activities including making crowns, making flags and eating jam scones.

What a Team

This week we worked on becoming a good team. We played the hoop game where we all had to join hands and work together to move the hoop around the circle. We also played blind retrieval where one person was blinded and had to follow instructions to retrieve a hidden object.

Magic Maths

On Wednesday we used natural materials from the outdoors to create patterns and shapes. We used leaves, petals, sticks, gigs and grass. Look at the wonderful work we created.

On Tuesday year two focused their literacy session on spelling in the outdoor area through a game of spelling tig. They worked in teams to catch the letters carried by their opponents to spell out a given word.
