Christmas is fast approaching...

This week Nursery children have been really proud of their mark making skills, using their good looking, identifying shape and marking down their own representations. They loved getting their own art books to look and practice drawing, some children even had a second try along with Reception children because they enjoyed it so much!

We explored a maths resource using the play dough, making marks and using our counting skills to identify which number each piece represented. The children found pieces which matched, parts which fit together and made patterns using different pics on the boards. Counting everyday objects really supports early mathematics, a skill which we are trying to master at the moment. See if you can help children at home, count steps, claps, items around the house or even food when you're eating!

During P.E the Nursery children really showed progress in their understanding, following more complex instructions from the sports coaches during a game. Children earned house points and a whole class reward for making me so proud. Well done guys, have a restful weekend.

On Friday saw the launch of our first Forest Friday...

...this will be every Friday  to fully immerse children into activities outdoors and to set learning in a different context. This week the children gathered leaves, sticks and anything that caught their eye, to make woodland animals and leaf mask's. The children got really creative with their ideas and produced some lovely work. Don't forget your wellies and warm clothing for next Friday.

You've got mail!

The children have thoroughly enjoyed their first week of their story of the jolly postman. Receiving letters and finding clues in the classroom have kept us excited every day!

What an exciting week we have had in Reception! On Monday after P.E we came into the classroom to find a bag full of letters, after a class discussion we thought the bag might belong to the Jolly Postman...

A week of achievements!

It has been great to have the children back in School this week and to see the efforts they have made to remember Nursery rules and routines. They have managed so well and even took on some new challenges. This week Mr Wood and Mr Huby showed us some different ways to one in the hall, we were taught how to use equipment safely and all achieved what we set out to do, even if it was difficult at first.
