EYFS Star of the week

Dear Minahil,

Congratulations on being star of the week in Reception. You really deserve this special mention and there are lots of reasons why you have been chosen as our star this week.

Minahil, you are always polite and hard working and could be chosen every week as our star for this!  This week you have been chosen for your fabulous artwork.  You always listen to instructions and you take your time when doing artwork and this really shows in the final result.  We are all really impressed with your skills when using pencils, powder paints and oil pastels.

Well done Minahil we love having you in Reception, keep up the good work!

 Lots of Love

Y2 Star of the week

Dear Keeley,

I honestly can not believe that you haven’t been chosen as Star Of The Week in Year 2 yet!! I can’t believe this because you are always a star!!! Whether you’re in class, in the yard, in the hall, walking around school or outside of school – you are always an absolute super star!! In every way!!

Not only are you quiet, calm and sensible Keeley, but you are also a very hard worker, a lovely friend and a very happy little girl! Not many people can say that they have all of those qualities in one!

You don’t always find writing/spelling very easy, Keeley (and you’d be the first to admit that) but you still try as hard as you can in every lesson and with every chance you get to practise your skills.  I see how hard you work every day on remembering your full stops and capital letters! I also see how hard you work at sounding out your spellings so that they are easy to read! Keep going keeley because you really are getting there – even if it might sometimes feel like a very long journey, you’re well on your way!!

Well done! Keep up the hard work!

Love from,

Miss Wright, Miss Nygovchyk and Miss Ward

Y5 Superstar

Dear Lewis

I am delighted to choose you as Year 5’s superstar this week.

Both Miss Guest and I have noticed how hard you are working in maths.  You are really listening and thinking hard about your work.  I was particularly impressed with your work on percentages this week; you were quickly able to find percentages of numbers and amounts, and to link percentages to their fraction and decimal equivalents.  I am sure you will feel proud of yourself and your work this week, and I hope this special mention will inspire you to keep on trying and achieve even greater success!

Congratulations, Lewis  – I am really proud of you, and you should be very proud of your achievements!  Well done!

Best wishes

Ms Blake

Y4 Superstar

Dear Lauren,

You are a star in many ways. Here are a couple of them:

Whenever you see someone who is in need of a friend you show them kindness and let them join in with whatever you are doing. This week you have become part of a ‘Circle of friends’ for someone in our class. You are an ideal person to do this because of your caring and thoughtful nature. I know that you will take your role seriously.

You are an excellent role model in class with the high standards of work that you maintain. It’s a pleasure to look at your work and see how you have applied your learning. I know that you always try your best and work hard to achieve as much as you can every day. Your writing is a real credit to your dedication. If anyone who didn’t know you read a piece of your writing, they would be most likely to presume that it was the work of someone from an older class.

I hope that you will always stay as caring and hardworking as you are now. Well done, Lauren, for being the Star of the Week. You certainly deserve it!

With best wishes

Mrs. R. Dever

I have chosen you for lots of different reasons Rylan and I know that the whole class has seen you shining this week. You greet me every morning, after breakfast club, with the biggest smile on your face. You look really happy at school and this is wonderful to see.

Mrs Wood has been very impressed with you in Letters and Sounds and she has told me that you are successfully learning your sounds now. I agree with this as when you are working with me you are keen to show me what you know.

I would just like to say how proud of you I am Rylan. You are such a wonderful member of the class and I am so lucky to teach you. You have shown such kindness this week with a new member of our class and you have been very helpful and caring.

I know that you will continue to shine and I am so looking forward to teaching you for the rest of Year 1.

Dear Shelby,

You are a real star and an excellent role model in many ways.

Every task that you undertake in school is completed to the very best of your ability. With your excellent self discipline you remain focussed and work industriously. You were the first person in class to achieve ‘Gold’ in our current reading challenge. This shows the level of commitment you have when you put your mind to something.

I can always rely on you aim high and you often show me your work in the lesson to check that you are on target for achieving the most challenging success criteria. I have noticed the positive effect that your learning behaviour has on those around you. Others see the high standard that you set and try to match what you achieve.

Your behaviour is exemplary and you always dress smartly for school. You are also incredibly polite and well mannered and others in the class know that you are a kind and helpful friend.

I am sure that, with your fantastic attitude to learning and your brilliant social skills, you will continue to achieve well.

With my very best wishes

Mrs. Dever

Dear Jordan,

It is with great pleasure that I have put you forward for the Special Mentions Assembly this Friday. Enjoy this exciting occasion!

Jordan, for so long you have been on my target list for the title of Star Pupil of Year 6! You have come incredibly close on several occasions and, finally, you’ve made it! I have been waiting for this day since when I used to call your mum on a weekly basis about your (less than positive) behaviour. You’ve come a long way since those days and a lot of people around school have remarked how hard you’ve been working.

Your bright face has been very welcome on these recent dark and dreary days and I reckon you have been having lots of early nights as you seem so much more awake than in the earlier days of Year 6. We all need lots of sleep in these stressful days leading up to Year 6 SATs, so keep them going so you can maximise your chances of achieving your highest levels! Keep yourself away from any negative influences and put all that hard work into practice. This is the best way of demonstrating the best learning behaviour you could ever choose in this very important term of school. Keep focusing on that positive working attitude and you never know, you could even get in a second celebration assembly!

Believe in yourself, Jordan, and as the famous Benjamin Spock said:
‘Trust yourself. You know more than you think you do.’

Best wishes,

Mr Cooper.

Y1 Special Mention

Dear Leo,

Congratulations on being our star of the week for the second time in Year 1.  You definitely deserve this very special mention. I could choose you as star of the week every week as you are such a wonderful member of our class.

I have chosen you for lots of different reasons Leo and I know that the whole class will agree with me. You are very polite and friendly and you always try very hard in class and this is fantastic to see.

You have made brilliant progess in maths and writing and this is because you work so hard. You know what your targets are and you try your best to achieve them. You are able to take ownership of your own learning and you choose which success criteria you want to work on and you know exactly what you need to do in order to achieve this.

I would just like to say how proud of you I am Leo. You are such a wonderful member of the class and I am so lucky to teach you. You are an excellent role model to the rest of the children in our school and I can rely on you to shine all the time. You have a wonderful supportive family Leo that are just brilliant at helping you with your school work. Dear Beatriz,

It is with great pleasure that I have put you forward for the Special Mentions Assembly this Friday. Enjoy this exciting occasion!

Since you came to Bank End, you have worked very hard to settle into the class. It is a difficult to start in a new school anyway but you have tried especially hard as you have also had a language barrier to climb over!

You have arrived in Year 6 and are now starting to show me what you can do and that is really good news! You have successfully approached your learning to score highly in both reading and maths tests so it would be great if you could keep trying so that we can give you all the help you need to do the best that you possibly could be!

I really like it when children try hard in my lessons and you are now beginning to put your hands up to answer questions and voice your own opinions. Make sure that the answer that you provide is the answer to my question and you will surely, Beatriz, taste the success that comes with this.

Euripides, the Greek philosopher, said,

Along with success comes a reputation for wisdom.

So Beatriz, continue with your positive frame of mind and map out your future!

Best wishes, Mr Cooper.

Y5 Special mention

Dear Chloe

I am delighted to choose you as Year 5’s superstar this week.

You have consistently shown a real aptitude for writing and you have developed your own individual style, so your work is always interesting and enjoyable to read.  You always listen carefully to explanations and advice; you know how to improve your writing and what your next steps should be.

I have been particularly impressed recently by your increased efforts in maths, which I know is not your favourite subject!  Your hard work means that you understand more clearly and work more confidently, and you can explain your thinking to others.

In addition to your hard work and great progress in maths and English, you are a very thoughtful and mature member of the class.  You are always willing to contribute your ideas, and you help others by providing supportive and positive comments and suggestions.  You demonstrate a real interest and involvement in your learning, and this makes you a great role model.

Congratulations on your success, Chloe – I am really proud of you, and you should be very proud of your achievements!  Well done!
