Art in Y2

This week Y2 have been working really hard on their Art skills.  They have closely observed a variety of pieces of Art and decided; what skills to use, what medium to work with, how many shades of one colour is needed and what how to put their own ‘spin’ on it.  After 3 weeks of observing, planning and creating, we have created the most beautiful Art display that we have made yet!! Take a look! :)

Bank End’s Art Gallery

This week Bank End held an art gallery for all parents and carers who attended Parent, Pupil, Teacher meetings.  The gallery was made up of self portraits which had been created by all children from Nursery up to year 6.  The portraits were in the creative themes that the different year groups are currently studying.  Lots of portraits were sold to proud artists and some were even bought by Mrs Thorpe so that they can be put up in the hall!  Keep an eye out for someone that you recognise!

Art Attack in Year 3

Year 3 have been busy painting portraits of Viking Long Houses. We have carefully sketched what the Viking long houses looked like after talking about the ones we saw and went inside on our trip. We have also been looking at the photos we took from our trip to help us remember the fine details of how they looked. We have been using water colours to paint our portraits, using very fine brush strokes to show the detail. We are excited as our portraits will soon be hanging proudly in our very own gallery!

Y4 – Show Me the Monet!

This week Year 4 have been using paintings by the famous impressionist Claude Monet to inspire their writing.

They have produced some fabulous imaginative stories and poems using his work and some fantastic art work to accompany it.
