Sara Hazizi – Child of the Year…

Sara, after our assembly about Child Of The Year and then our Class Circle Time sessions, I was not surprised to learn the

result of the children’s votes. Your name was always amongst the most popular.

The criteria were strict this year and the child had to have been invited to all of the Bravo Rewards. Your Bravo score was very high (nearly 200 points above target)! You also had to be a great friend and many of the clas

s cited this as one of your finest qualities. Thirdly, your engagement to learning in school and being able to speak out is something that has never been in doubt, Sara. You are so lively in class discussions and have given at least 100% in everything in school! You have been very focused in all lessons and I can always count on you to do your best in everything.

There were also reasons that the Bank End Year 5 team voted for you, Sara:

  • You have great sportsmanship and always encourage others.
  • You are an ‘always child’ in every aspect of school life.
  • You have a 100% resilient personality in school.
  • You have a ‘can-do’ attitude to learning, with 100% effort!
  • You always do and bring in your well-presented homework.

Well done Sara, keep it up in Year 6!

Best wishes,

The Year 5 team, Mr Cooper and Mr Borrow.

Bikeability

Year 5 had a fantastic time last week with the Bikeability course! Glorious weather enabled most of the class to have a great time learning how to control the bike on the playground for Level 1, including how to start and stop safely and control the bike safely. Level 2 involves controlling the bike on the estate such as turning left and right. Everybody enjoyed themselves immensely!

Hero

Dear Declan,

I am extremely pleased to be awarding you with this fabulous amazing Year 5 Class Hero award! Enjoy yourself on this amazing occasion!

This week’s focus at Bank End has been about being the best team member and one child who always thinks about the rest of the team in school. You have really set a precedent with your sportsmanship and I am confident that you always do the right thing at Bank End!

I have always known that you are a very polite boy and your good manners have also improved through Year 5. It is wonderful having you in the class and you are fast becoming a model pupil. All adults who work with you in class have remarked how focused you are which is a big difference since September! Your learning behaviour has taken a step in the right direction, Declan, and you have proven to me that I am right to select you!

A good team member always encourages others to do their best and even if they are having a tough time, you give them lots of encouragement so this award recognises this skill, a very good skill to have.

Declan, I know that a strong team can be made stronger with a focused person in it and you are this child so push yourself as hard as you can to be the best team player! Great teams are forged through determination, and this is what you have.

Well done, Declan, keep up the good work!

Hero…

Dear Monika,

I am extremely pleased to be awarding you with this fabulous amazing Year 5 Class Hero award! Enjoy yourself on this amazing occasion!

This week’s focus at Bank End has been about choosing the right path to make a change in our behaviour and choose the correct path for which to learn in the best way.

Since you have arrived at Bank End, Monika, you have sometimes found it easy to be distracted by other children. However, in the last few weeks, I have realised that you have turned a corner and are working really hard to make a clear change in your behaviour and enabling yourself to work very hard in the classroom!

Your hand is always up and ready for sharing your thinking and I am regularly asking you for your answers in Maths, English and even in Guided Reading, which must especially hard for you as English is a difficult language to understand!

Monika, I know that I can count on you to look tiptop smart in school and your dancing ability in preparation for the school performance has also been very efficient so I can confirm that you are trying your best in school. You set yourself a task to do and get on with it without wasting any time. If you have a problem with anything, you do ask for help but only after having a good go at it yourself. That takes determination, which is a fine skill to possess.

Well done, Monika, keep up the good work!

Our Hero…

Dear Denon,

I am extremely pleased to be awarding you with this fabulous amazing Year 5 Class Hero award! Enjoy yourself on this amazing occasion!

This week’s focus at Bank End has been about using our very best manners all the time and being that child who is always extremely polite.

I have always known that you are a very polite boy and having worked with you quite a few times this week, Denon, you have proven to me that I am right to select you as the chosen representative for exceedingly good manners!

Last week, at the start of the week, Mrs Thorpe wanted children who looked exceptional in their first day uniform and with you impeccable manners, you stood out with your respectable manners.

Denon, I know that I can count on you to always do your best in all of the work. You set yourself a task to do and get on with it without wasting any time by persevering. If you have a problem with anything, you do ask for help but only after having a good go at it yourself. That takes determination, which is a fine skill to possess.

Denon, you are a very respectable ambassador in Year 5 and I’d like the rest of the class to take something from you so that they can also be the best.

Well done, Denon, keep up the good work!

Art techniques…

Year 5 have been experimenting with different art techniques this week to create a artworks inspired by Monet’s ‘Waterlilies’. We use watercolours to create a colour wash then sprinkle salt onto the paint then leave it to dry. The salt absorbs the water and leaves patterns and crystal-effects on the paper. Some of us then added pastels to add the other details to our artworks.
