This week, Year 5 have been learning about plate tectonics.

PicCollageThis week, Year 5 have been learning about plate tectonics.  We have learnt that the Earth is made of different layers and that we live on the Earth’s crust.  The crust is split into three pieces called tectonic plates that ‘ float’ on the magma underneath.  The plates are made of two types of crust-oceanic and continental.

We learnt that there are three different types of plate: constructive, destructive and conservative.  Earthquakes and volcanoes are usually found at plate boundaries.
