The Baker at Pudding Lane

We know that the Great Fire of London started in a baker’s shop in London in 1666. Thomas Farriner went to bed one night and was awoken by the smell of smoke. He quickly got his family and himself out of the burning building as they escaped through the window and over the rooftops. Thomas Farriner often baked bread in his bakery so we have had a go at baking our own bread this week. It took us a long time and it was quite hard work. It tasted a lot better than the bread that you buy in supermarkets today so this week we are going to write out the recipe so we can try and make it again one day. I hope we can remember all the stages.
