Star of the Week

Dear Charlie,logobankend

We are really pleased to see you up here today enjoying the limelight in this very special mention.

You really deserve to feel proud of your extended writing and attitude towards it.

You are usually working well in class and can be trusted to work to your full potential most of the time. Ms Blake is particularly impressed with how hard you tried with your extended piece of writing and your attitude towards your work on Tuesday. The writing was a newspaper report about a train crash during Victorian times. You thought about using a range of sentences and extending them by adding detail. You are trying hard with your handwriting and show that you are bothered about the end product in extended writing. This has been proved by you already having work up on display on the corridor.

When reading, it is important that you try to ‘magpie’ some of the fantastic verb chains and detailed description from the books that you are reading, and apply them in your writing. You are growing increasingly confident to answer inference and literal questions during guided and reciprocal sessions.

In maths, you are learning new standard written methods for multiplication. You are also applying your knowledge of all four calculations in word problems in the context of money. This is good practise as it means that you are aware of key vocabulary and can identify what questions are asking you to do.

Keep on trying your best, Charlie! We are really enjoying seeing you mature, smile and shine!

Best Wishes – Mrs Thorpe, Ms Blake, Mrs Scothern and Mrs Kirk
