As we arrive at the end of another successful year together I wanted to update you on some very important and positive changes for the coming year. From September 2014 we will be working more closely in partnership with Barnsley Academy. I will be a member of their Senior Leadership Team supporting the improvements to provision for all the secondary children in our community. We are incredibly excited about this; we hope that our skills in improving the opportunities at Bank End and Hunningley will have a huge impact on the Academy.

We will continue to work in partnership with Hunningley Primary School that is now under the leadership of a new Headteacher, Caroline Dean. This partnership has flourished and the support our children get because of it is robust.

Our Senior Leadership Team is very strong at Bank End for the next academic year and we are determined to continue to work in partnership with you also, on our journey to outstanding. So that you are very clear about our roles, here is a brief description of what we will be doing and who can help you if you have a problem or question:

  • Nic Thorpe-Executive Headteacher-Overall responsibility for the school-ensures that performance in all classrooms is at least good and manages the progress data for every child to make certain that all children reach beyond their potential.
  • Lauren Wright-Assistant Headteacher-Leader of all Key Stage 2 classes, responsible for ensuring the curriculum meets the needs of the children and is engaging and exciting.
  • Donna Barker-Assistant Headteacher-SEN champion and Safeguarding lead, responsible for ensuring that all children are safe, well looked after and given the support they need in school to make progress and succeed.
  • Kathy Smith-Middle Leader, responsible for Key Stage 1 classes and the teaching of English in school
  • Lisa Gagen-Middle Leader, responsible for all the Early Years Foundation Stage

We have incredible parent support now in school, so please ensure that if you need to speak to someone that your first port of call is Anna Moore our Parent Support Advisor. She will help you towards the right support whether it’s organising a meeting with a teacher or support for housing, college, parenting issues etc.

I look forward to seeing you at our performances and Summer Fayre soon, but I’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a very, very happy summer and thank you once again for your continued support.

Yours Faithfully

Nic Thorpe
