Starting Monday 17th February Bank End is having a very special Anti-Bullying Week. The main focus for the week will be eSafety or keeping safe in the online community. In the 21st Century this is a huge issue and concern for parents and carers. Keeping your children safe from strangers and bullying incidents as well as teaching them how to manage safely online is something that we will be teaching your children this week.

Also, we have planned a very special event for you to attend on Wednesday 19th February with your children. The eSafety Workshop for Parents and Families will really support you to:

  • Become aware of dangers
  • Show you how to set adequate security on your devices
  • Know how to talk to your children about their experience and online behaviour

Look out for the letter and reply slip coming home tomorrow!

Tuesday 11th February is SAFER INTERNET DAY talk to your children about what they have learnt in school.

When we return to school after the holidays it will be ‘BOOK WEEK’.

During that week we have some amazing learning activities including:

  • An author visit-Caroline Pitcher
  • A Theatre Visit
  • A Dressing Up Day

Pam Jones, the school nurse, will be in school on Friday 21st February 9am-10am to discuss and give advice to

families regarding the treatment of head lice. Come along and help banish those pesky nits!

Free bug busting kit for anyone attending the meeting!

Ways to Keep Safe Online

  1. Don’t post any personal information online – like your address, email address or mobile number.
  2. Think carefully before posting pictures or videos of yourself.  Once you’ve put  a picture of yourself online most people can see it and may be able to download it, it’s not just yours anymore.
  3. Keep your privacy settings as high as possible
  4. Never give out your passwords
  5. Don’t befriend people you don’t know
  6. Don’t meet up with people you’ve met online.  Speak to your parent or carer about people suggesting you do
  7. Remember that not everyone online is who they say they are
  8. Think carefully about what you say before you post something online
  9. Respect other people’s views, even if you don’t agree with someone else’s views doesn’t mean you need to be rude
  10. If you see something online that makes you feel uncomfortable, unsafe or worried: leave the website, turn off your computer if you want to and tell a trusted adult immediately.
