Spelling Bee Challenge

Dear parents and carers,

For the last two years you have been an incredible support to your children by helping them to improve in reading. The amount of children completing the Reading Challenges has been incredible.  So, we at Bank End wondered if you were ready to take on the world-wide phenomena known as the Spelling Bee.

A Spelling Bee is a competition in which contestants are asked to spell a broad selection of words, usually with a varying degree of difficulty.

In our challenge at Bank End there are word lists for every year group from Y1-Y6. Everyone who enters the training contract for the challenge will be invited to take part in a competition in their year group where there will be one winner and one runner up. These twelve children will be taken to Frankie and Bennys Italian Restaurant with the staff for a party to celebrate. Everyone who enters though will get a special badge and certificate for their celebration logs.

At Bank End we always try to make learning fun.  Please join us and help your child(ren) to gain a skill that will support them their whole lives.  You never know, you might learn something new yourself too!

The training period for the challenge starts on Wednesday 22nd January and concludes on Wednesday 19th February. The children will have their competition in class and parents of the winners/runners up will be notified by phone that evening where arrangements will be made for the party the following evening.

I hope you join us in championing your children to be master spellers.

Have Fun!
